Process of publication
Fully complying with the instructions for authors results in a much shorter editorial processing time, which is of direct benefit to the authors and the journal. In the first phase of the editorial process, the Editorial Committee reviews the manuscript to ensure the topic addressed is within the scope of the journal and to verify that all instructions for authors are met. When these requirements are not met, the manuscript is returned to the corresponding author, informing him/her of the situation and listing the format point needing revising. When manuscripts do fully comply with instructions for authors, the manuscript is considered as "received" and the date is recorded. The Editor Committee then sends the manuscript to an Associate Editor, selected based on the topic addressed in the manuscript. The Associate Editor sends the manuscript to at least two external referees or reviewers in a double-blind system. Referees are required to decline reviewing manuscripts when there are potential conflicts of interest or when they believe they cannot conduct a just and objective evaluation. Referees evaluate manuscripts based on the review forms provided by the journal. Through the Associate Editor, the Editor Committee or the referees may request additional information (data, procedures, etc.) to facilitate the review process.
The referee's recommendation can be: i) publish after minor modifications, ii) publish after major modifications, or iii) do not publish. The Associate Editor evaluates the referees' recommendations to make a publication recommendation to the Editor Committee, which then communicates its publication decision in writing to the corresponding author. The decision entails continuing or not the publication process and whether the manuscript needs an additional round of reviews from the referees. When the manuscript is accepted for publication, the Editor Committee sends an acceptance letter to the corresponding author indicating the required type of modifications. Within three weeks from the acceptance notification, authors are asked to submit a revised version of the manuscript to be evaluated. The order in which manuscripts appear in each volume is based on the acceptance date. A manuscript can be rejected for publication by the Editor Committee at any stage in the editorial process due to content or formatting issues. The Editor reserved the right to inform the affiliation institutions of the authors when evidence of plagiarism or unethical behaviors exists so the appropriate investigations can take place if necessary.
