Establishing research needs tbr determining causes of rejection to commercial co-operation amongst small holders

Abstract

A major problem for policy-making in Chile - as this open economy grows - is how to modernize small holders, so that they can rise production yields and reach sound competitiveness levels. Any solution involves commercial co-operation of these farmers in strong and integrated organizations. Yet, there prevails in the sector a strong resistance towards these kind of co-operation. Here it is reviewed concepts related to commercial co-operation among small holders and it is suggested priorities for future research.
