Manufacturing Factors Affecting Physico-Mechanical Properties Of Composite Plywood Made in a Simple Process

Abstract

This work was to analize the glue bond quality between veneer and particle core of composite plywood and their physico mechanical properties according to the pressing temperature, type and amount of adhesive applied to the particle core of the boards and species of wood for veneer faces.
It was established that 160°C corresponds to the best pressing temperature (in the range studied) for the elaboration of composite plywood in a single process and that the appropriate percentage of Ureaformaldehyde adhesive for the veneercore zone corresponds to 14 percent in respect of the dry weight of particles.
In was also found that the composite ply woods using pine for veneer, particle core and gluing with fortified Ureaformaldehyde comply satisfactorily with the soaking test in cold water for 24 hours and the swelling requirement, DIN 68763 type V20
