Abstract

In the Region of Tarapacá, in the province of Tamarugal, we approach two religious ceremonies that take place immersed in the most important festivals in the Region: the festival in honor of the Virgen del Carmen in Tirana and the festival in honor of San Lorenzo in the Quebrada of Tarapacá The ceremonies are the Pilgrimage of the Musicians and La Rompía del Día. Both do not appear in the official programming. We interpret them under the conceptualization of creative actions and invented traditions through ethnographic work which included interviews, direct observation, and audiovisual records. We conclude by emphasizing the role of mediators that the creative and charismatic people play in both parties.
