Abstract

This paper shows the application of the Finite Element Method to the analysis of typical marine structures, in this case, chosen structures correspond to an Oceangoing Purse Seiner Vessel. A Finite Element Analysis is carried out for structures under a characteristic load, hydrostatic pressure on a bulkhead and dynamic excitation affecting the engine foundation. It is expected that popularisation of modern tools in the analysis of marine structures will improve competitiveness of Chilean naval architecture designs.
