Abstract

The main methods of steel plate cutting, they are denominated “thermal”, like for example, the Oxy-fuel and Plasma. Nevertheless, these methods present a series of disadvantages like: great formation of dreg, dangerous gas formation, radiations UV, among others, pronouncing itself with greater intensity in materials with little thickness.
A method that does not cause many of the problems is the “Abrasive Waterjet Cutting” or “Chorro de Agua-Abrasivo”. This method of very little diffusion in our country consists of a thin but powerful waterjet combined with a part of a resistant abrasive, which hits the material at highest speed, causing a phenomenon of micro-erosion and this form is obtained the cut.
