Abstract

In the season of 1999-2000 eleven imported cultivars from red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.), two yellow raspberry cultivars, two black raspberry cultivars (Rubus occidentalis L.) and five local selections were compared. The cultivars were established in 1997 and 1998 in Chillán (36°26’’ latitude south and 72°06’’ longitude west, 144 m above sea level) and the adaptation and behavior of these cultivars, dates of phenological phases and their relationship with climatic conditions of the zone, vegetative growth, yield components and fruit characteristics were evaluated. The precocious productions of Autumn Bliss and Amity are presented as an alternative to Heritage. Chilliwack, Skeena and Tulameen showed short and concentrated periods of fruit production and Heritage, Autumn Bliss, Fallgold, Amity and Ruby achieved the highest total productions.
