Abstract

Two field trials were run to detect the effect over liveweight gains of D.E.S. implants and injectable vitamin compounds (ADE), Exp. 1, spring grazed steers of high initial liveweight (500 kg) of the Black Pied Lowland breed and Exp. 2 for summer- autumn pasture grazed Hereford steers of high initial liveweight (API) 340 kg and low initial liveweight (BPI) 270 kg. In both experiments, four groups were made; T, controls; ADE, received vit. compound; ADE-DEE vitamins plus D.E.S. and group DEE only D.E.S.
Effects were positive and significant (P≤0,05) for total liveweight gains in the 4 month trials for DEE and ADE-DEE groups. No initial liveweight effect was shown in Experiment 2.
Liveweight gains did not influence reponse to diethylstilbestrol. Vitamin compounds employed did not affect rates of liveweight gain significantly. No undesirable lateral effects were observed.
