Abstract

Ninety-three diarrheic fecal samples were obtained from under 20 days-old suckling pigs, and examined by indirect immunofluorescence (IFI) and immunoperoxidase (IPO) using pooled antibodies against F4, F5, F6 and F41 fimbrias from E. coli.

A total of 26 (27,9%) samples were found positives; of these, 12 (12,9%) were positive by IFI, 8 (8, 6 %) by IPO and 6 (6,5%) by both techniquess. The methods employed are easy to carry out with the advantage of a quick and specific diagnosis.
