Abstract

In times of classical rhetoric, the written word was seen as a deposit of sound, a place where sound is preserved until it is restored to its original form. In this context, the following analysis focuses on the auditory dimension in the collection of educational essays Historia de un siglo, of Alfonso Reyes. First, we analyse and describe the auditory characteristics of this corpus. Secondly, we find that the function of these auditory characteristics is to arouse the interest of the reader for his educational essays and to present the historical matter in the most vivid way possible.
