Colloquial features in the Uruguayan family correspondence between 1800 and 1840

Abstract

Linguistic study of the colloquial level that was used in Uruguay from 1800 to 1840 through a corpus of family letters. From the different levels of linguistic analysis, we have noticed phonetic changes, morphological anomalies, unusual syntactic construtions and special lexical uses. All this with the dialectal particularities in address forms. In this sense, the most important contribution is that the introduction from vos use in Uruguay has been dated from 1820 and the source of influence is from the dialect of Argentina.
