Abstract

A critical discourse analysis of the Andes Spanish of Chile is presented with the purpose of verifying the links existing between structures, strategies and other elements of the text and world view of the aymara inhabitants in the north of Chile. The discourse is an interview where the lexicon, morphosyntax, intonation and other properties of the text show how the individual understands and produces his environment.

The results show the individual belongs to an ethnic minority where one of the most important social problems is the linguistic-cultural contact between generations and with the dominant social groups.
