The cohesion of discourse markers in various types of discourse

Abstract

Based on Bolívar (1994), this paper proves that the interview is a kind of text where various types of discourse interact. The distribution and occurrence of discourse markers in the different types of discourse are identified. The results show that the distribution of the cohesive functions of the types of discourse markers analyzed facititates the communicative purpose of each type of discourse.
