Abstract

This research reflects for the first time on the dramatic picture book, an emerging literary subgenre of today that has not been studied yet. Analyzing a corpus of works for children and young readers, the role of the iconographic component and its relations with the theatrical text are studied, to find out how the specific characteristics of the dramatic genre are reflected in the format of the picture book: among them, the lack of narrator, the presence of stage directions and dialogues and the scenographic elements.
