Abstract

In this article I will analyze the masculine representations of the intellectual portrayed in the novel El camino de Ida (2013) by Ricardo Piglia: Emilio Renzi, an Argentine writer, and Thomas Munk, a brilliant mathematician. This investigation will be carried out with the aim of unraveling how this subjectivity is represented in the novelistic plot, in addition to carrying out a diagnosis on whether it is possible to be an authentic intellectual in the referential reality, under the theory of the public role of the intellectual as a disturber of the status quo that Edward Said deploys in his book Representaciones del intellectual (1994).
