Towards the transformation of poetic subjects: the return from exile considered through the territory-maternity nexus in Poema de Chile by Gabriela Mistral and Ligia by Rosabetty Muñoz

Abstract
This research paper addresses the experiences of returning from exile, focusing on the works Ligia (2019) by Rosabetty Muñoz and Poema de Chile (1967) by Gabriela Mistral. It primarily explores the subjective transformation of the poetic subjects in both collections as they reflect on their relationship with the lost territory through an imaginary journey. Furthermore, it delves into the experience of motherhood, both in an allegorical sense and from multiple perspectives, and into why it is key to successfully achieving each respective transformation. The analysis, through phenomenological and psychoanalytic approaches, sheds light on the disposition for return, the crises faced by the protagonists, and the way in which the past conditions the present in the search for a longed-for sense of belonging.
