100 Years of Literature in Chiloé. An Urgent Need to Get to Know and Recognize One Another

Abstract
This paper offers some reflections on the identity and literature of Chiloé based on a revisiting of the book 100 Years of Literature in Chiloé: A Bio-Bibliographical Repertory of Authors (1900-2000), published in 2014 and compiled by Mario Contreras Vega. The compiler discusses the work and biographical circumstances of some of the authors included in the aforementioned book, covering a period roughly between 1900 and 1960, prior to the modern Chiloé literary scene that began to consolidate after 1975 with the creation of the Aumen Literary Workshop.
