Abstract

In this article I will discuss two narrative texts: the short story “Al margen del libro de Job” (1918), by the Costa Rican writer Carmen Lyra, and the novel Neurosis (1916), by the Peruvian writer Consuelo Eufrosina Villarán. Is intended to compare these two books to understand the process of subversion of these gender roles and the position of the authors about the discussions on the identity, marriage and motherhood carrying out Latin American feminism in the first decades of the twentieth century.
