La representación visual de los pueblos amazónicos. Un estudio sobre los sesgos de la Inteligencia Artificial Generativa

La Inteligencia Artificial Generativa (IAG) puede crear obras mediante el aprendizaje constante de documentos, datos y representaciones alternativas. Sin embargo, algunas críticas señalan que su entrenamiento parte de materiales accesibles que, de por sí, presentan numerosos elementos de subjetividad. Siguiendo esa estela de estudios críticos con la IAG, esta investigación analiza las imágenes generadas por las plataformas DALL-E y Runway sobre la representación de los pueblos indígenas amazónicos para identificar sesgos. Se analizaron 400 imágenes en términos de cantidad de personas, género, edad, ubicación geográfica y características de la composición. Los resultados principales muestran que más de la mitad de las imágenes de ambas plataformas presentaron imágenes en las que no se podía determinar el espacio geográfico y en ninguna imagen se representó un entorno urbano. Estos hallazgos evidencian sesgos hacia los pueblos amazónicos, que pueden perpetuar construcciones simbólicas determinadas por la simplificación, estereotipación y distorsión de estas personas.
