Abstract

In the present story, Coloane evokes the history of Otey, a subaltern subject within subaltern groups who is discriminated against doubly: because he was born in Chiloé and is a rural worker. This account questions Argentinean history's official version about the strikes in Patagonia during the 1920's. At the same time, it tries to expand the category “pioneer” in order to include those human beings neglected, silenced and murdered in the name of peace, civilization and progress. In the story, the frontier looks like a materially and a socially porous space, communication passing through its fissures and gaps. In this work, I will observe the aforementioned space considering a three-dimensional perspective that includes geopolitical, social and economical points of view.
