Abstract

In this article I analyze the Mapuche press in the context of the conflict between the nation-state (Government) and the Mapuche people. Particularly it focuses on the ways in which the notion of modernity is understood in one of the most important newspapers of the last time in Mapuche press: the newspaper Azkintuwe. Through a semio-discursive analysis of this newspaper, this article exposes its ambivalent and contradictory discourse about the concept of modernity.
