Informed consent: a little bit of realism

Abstract

Everyone seems to agree on two issues, namely: the importance of informed consent for medical practice and the justification of informed consent, i.e., autonomy. This work attempts to challenge both assumptions, showing that theory just doesn’t square the real world. So sure, informed consent is a requisite of medical practice, but with a Little realism.
