Abstract

Referring to design strategies that address the relationship with nature, Aravena (1999) states that architecture operates out of an affinity or contrast with the environment, where rational shapes can deal with the dialogue between the natural environment and the construction. At the same time, other authors validate the representation of organic shapes in the search for such dialogue. All in all, these strategies are formal approximations to the work, leaving both inhabitants and the perceptions they may develop in a rural space behind. How can these perceptions become a subject matter of the project? The case of a household for an urban family, located in a forest 10 minutes away from the city, is a test for the design process based on sensorial registers as an answer to the program and context.
