Abstract

New computational methods for topological optimization allow defining shapes with maximal resistance and minimum material, provoking a generative relationship for architectural design. This article exposes concepts and techniques for evolutionary structural optimization, with some experiences in contemporary architecture and university experiments carried out in a multidisciplinary research in PUC, UBB and UdeC. This works deveils expressive examples, as well as conditions for execution and spatial properties, such suggest integration of structure analysis in the architectural design.
