Abstract

This article discusses the links among architecture, wood and water in the town of Tortel, Aysén Region, declared as Typical Area by Chile's National Council of Monuments in 2001. The introduction provides an overview of wood architecture in southern Chile and then, it discusses the case of Tortel as a place where landscape, the surroundings and water meet in an exceptional manner.
