Abstract

This article aims at revealing the state of the art of inclusivity in the Chilean urban-housing sphere, as well as suggesting its relevance for the construction of fairer cities. For such purpose, the methodological strategy of the analysis presented is stated; the notion of “inclusivity” is explained using the concepts of accessibility to which it has been traditionally associated; progresses and issues from the legal devices that arrange the production of the urban space in Chile (General Ordinance of Urban Development and Construction) are highlighted; and the conceptual and legal revision is articulated to characterize and assess urban spaces from a perspective of inclusivity. The work concludes with a proposal regarding how architecture should inclusively address the different forms of current exclusions for the development of fairer and friendlier cities.
