Abstract

Opfikerpark is located in the center of the area between Kloten airport and downtown Zürich; inside a structure composed by urban islands and green areas constantly submitted to change and growth. The project works with the specific and contradictory qualities of the place; mainly with the potential of intermediate free space. The strip of the promenade towards the west takes the new border of the city, thus satisfying its need for the urban; the Archipelago-Forest-Technical to the east is presented as a relax area and shelters the necessity for the “Pittoreske”; both are connected by the width of the center, seized by a vast meadow and an artificial lake. To the highway, the promenade is transformed into an acoustic barrier, with which the park projects itself towards the infinite.
