Main Article Content
Abstract
Ramón González Almeida (Asunción 1923 - Caracas 1994) was a Paraguayan architect who lived and worked in several South American countries, mainly in Venezuela, Uruguay and Paraguay. He studied architecture in Uruguay in the 1940s and his designs were characterized by the compositional rigor of their material and spatial structure and sensitivity to the site. González Almeida is one of the few well-known Paraguayan architects who transcended abroad in the mid-20th century. This article seeks to reconstruct part of his career and work, presents his professional itinerary and a formal analysis of three houses built in Punta del Este, Caracas and Asunción between 1952 and 1965, highlighting the architectural values of each one.
