Abstract

In 2020, the Marta Scheu Torres Award was granted to two outstanding professionals: Tania Gebauer and Ángela Ibáñez. Both have served in different areas of the discipline providing a unique and significant gaze. Ángela Ibáñez, Bachelor of Arts and Humanities and MA in Landscape Architecture, is the co-founder and executive director of Patio Vivo, a non-profit foundation that implements learning landscapes in the playgrounds of kindergartens, schools, and high schools. Ángela has been recognized within the 100 Women Leaders 2020 of El Mercurio and Mujeres Empresarias, and is a member of the Executive Council of the International School Grounds Alliance (ISGA). She has participated in several seminars on free play and learning. Tania Gebauer is an Architect, Bachelor of Science from the University of Chile, Master in Certification of Sustainable Design and Bioclimatic Architecture from the University of Barcelona and has a Certificate in Art, Digital Architecture, and Real Estate Appraisal from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She has developed her work together with Ortuzar and Gebauer Arquitectos on issues of sustainability, restoration, and heritage conservation on the Isla Grande de Chiloé. In her professional career, she has received multiple recognitions from her peers, including the 2018 College of Architects award for Regional Architecture together with her partner and spouse, Eugenio Ortúzar, and she participated in the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale.
