Abstract

The study of the circular use of materials together with the potential of parametric processes in the early stages of design, positions the new Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems as the perfect tool in the definition of an eco-effective and sustainable architecture, integrating the principles of the cradle to cradle (C2C) paradigm into the construction industry. Through the implementation of BIM technologies, all the information required for project development can be introduced. This research is aimed at promoting the integration of C2C certification with BIM tools for the creation of product libraries (families in BIM) or databases to assess the benefits and burdens of products beyond a building’s life cycle.
