Factors affecting the linguistic loyalty in the Spanish-speaking community in Australia

Abstract

This paper describes the main social, demographic and psychological factors that correlate statistically with the maintenance of Spanish in Australia. The data come from an Australia-wide survey distributed in 1994-1995. The future of the Spanish language in Australia is discussed in the light of these findings.
