Abstract

This topic is centered on deciphering the historical origin of modern marriage and family in Europe, Latin America as well as in Traditional Chile. We will also analyze the role of the Church, the Government, the Canonists and the people who thought about the establishment of a strict pattern of social order, which committed these two important institutions and which were the bases of the organized society and the social and moral rectitude. We will also point up the parallel models to the social order, based on sexual transgressions or illicit relationships that led to a high percentage of miscegenation and ilegetimacy.
