Abstract

This research article is an attempt to discuss kidnapping in Colombia as a social problem.
To achieve this goal, the article proposes a framework of economic and political concepts by means of which studies kidnapping statistically and mediatically. First, the article reviews official State regulations pertaining to statistics of kidnapping. Secondly, it analyses the main mobilizations against kidnapping in Colombia and highlights some of its most important elements, such as slogans and political context. Finally, the article enquiries whether the relation between kidnapping and the Colombian political structure is similar to the one maintained by the free individual and capitalism.
