Abstract

Agrarian organizations in Argentina, from unions to cooperatives or otherwise, have historically been interested in carrying out training actions for their associates and their families or in approaching the formal educational system as a seedbed for future leaders or to train young people in these entities’ values and transmit them to the rest of society. In this article, we discuss and compare educational proposals from two organizations considered, although with different characteristics, “non-unionized” in Argentina –the Association of Argentine Cooperatives (ACA in Spanish) and the Argentine Association of Regional Consortiums of Agricultural Experimentation (AACREA in Spanish). By addressing their strategies, we will provide an understanding of relevant aspects of these organizations to assess the role they seek to assume in society. We will focus on the continuities, changes, differences and similarities of these entities’ actions as well as the possible reach of their contents and values into society, among other issues.
