Cultural differences in the digital space communication. Comparison between urban and semi-rural adolescents in applications and motivations of TICs

Abstract
This research seeks to delve into the information systems and Internet-mediated social interaction that are used by both urban adolescents in the metropolitan region as semi Region Rivers. The study applied to adolescents involved with High School facilities of a medium-low socioeconomic level, through quantitative and qualitative instruments of data collection which features were used, frequency and interests with respect to information technology and Internet-mediated communication. From the results obtained, it is possible to conclude differences in access to this tool, linked to the origin youth. However, with regard to the use of Web tools and the interest that students in general indicated that those dialogical cutting are fundamental social role, favoring the use of platforms in this line. Finally, on social groups for adolescents, they are inclined towards the peer and family circles, understanding Internetmediated communication as a reinforcement to established relationships face to face.
