Abstract

This paper analyzes the figure of Johannes Kepler as the founder of modern astronomy, investigating the subjective movements on the arrival to his well known three laws of planetary movement. Three cosmic-subjective movements are proposed, namely, escape, revelation and divination, as operations that reveal the undeniably subjective nature of the keplerian universe. This also exposes epistemological contradictions in the scientific method used by Kepler, in relation to the juxtapositions between astronomy, astrology and religion. Finally, this paper offers some questions and reflections on the cosmos and astronomy today, exploring their possibilities of reconnection with alternative subjective and socio-historical dimensions.
