Abstract
This article makes a critical reading of relevant readings that have been made on the Pauline concept of katechon. Abstracted from its historical and theological context, the katechon has become a key term in explaining contemporary politics in Carl Schmitt, Jacob Taubes, Giorgio Agamben and Massimo Cacciari. In the footsteps of the first, the katechon went from being a concrete figure of Pauline theology to becoming a meta-historical element of interpretation, which has made it possible to give meaning to a philosophy of history from modern times. Through a bibliographical review of ancient and modern texts, we seek to think about the
validity of the concept of katechon within the political thought of our time.
