Abstract

The democratization of ICTs has changed everyday practices to the point of transcending to the political level. This became evident in the Spanish State with the emergence of the 15-M camps, where part of the population established a decentralized social model inspired by the principles of the hacker counterculture that emerged with the development of the Internet. But for this to be possible, a common citizen aesthetic had first to take shape as a result of the new possibilities offered by the uses of ICTs. With aspirations to change the representative democratic system for a new participatory democratic system, around 15-M many practices typical of networked structures were taken to the urban level. However, although this image managed to permeate the conception of new political forces and through them reach the institutional level, it did not manage to become effective.
