Abstract

This article addresses its object of interest in the light of three approaches. In the first instance, it is based on the conception of knowledge as a common, or a collective property resource managed participatively by a community. Second, it is intended to show that knowledge can be managed collaboratively through knowledge management techniques that favor the dissemination of knowledge and networking. Ultimately, both concepts are relevant in the framework of open science, as a concept that encompasses different practices of free access to knowledge gradually adopted by the academy. Therefore, the objective of this work is to expose that knowledge management can support processes of creation and management of cognitive goods in the framework of open science. To do this, two main conceptual frameworks are explored: knowledge as a common and knowledge management. Then a case of reflection in open science is presented: the production of cognitive goods of free knowledge in a Development and Research Center. Among the conclusions, it is explained that knowledge management as a common is a relevant discipline to channel the execution of open science projects.
