Abstract

The Valdivia waterfront has became one of the most important urban elements of the city, as a result of being simultaneously a landscape heritage and an urban symbol. However, this 2.5 kilometer river edge, has no real structural elements to restore the missing links between city, landscape and water. The proposed project re-build the edge of the river by five urban interventions, including aspects of sustainability, which are: design of a park, densification, mobility, incorporating unique architecture, and energy. The costanera project offer an answer through consolidating its historic fabric to the city urban needs.
