Abstract

The main objective of this work was to design and implement a computing system about records to be used for the technical and economical evaluation of the milk production process, within farms devoted to dairy production in Southern Chile. Part of the work was carried out by a Programming Expert from the Instituto Nacional de Capacitación Profesional (INACAP), which designed the system codificatión and tested it. In the process of developing tlie system, we started with the step of analysis, during which we set the objectives that the system would provide. On the second step, the physical representation of the program in relation to the analysis it self was carried out; finally the codification and testing program was done. The program, requires a microcomputer, IBM compatible with color VGA screen, 4 megabytes of RAM memory, and 280 megabytes in hard disk. The implementation of the system was done by the Clipper program 5.2 of Computer Associates together with the graphical libraries of the computer language Turbo C version 2.1 of Borland Corp., which were hooked up with Clipper. This program provides a useful tool that permits the rapid evaluation of the technical aspects and the economic parameters of a dairy farm, allowing to take quick decisions.
