Abstract

Two systems of double queen were set up in order to improve honey production. The experiment was carried out in Ranquilco. 9 km away from Nueva Imperial. Fifteen beehives, Lanstroth type, were used. Six of them used the horizontal doble queen (DRH) method, tsix the vertical doble queen (DRV) and three the traditional one queen beehive.
The results show that a significative differece existed among the three systems. The DRH method provide the highest production (134 kg) followed by the DRV system (83 kg). The one queen system provided only 24 kg.
