Abstract

The viability of Amomyrtus luma, Myrceugenella apiculata, Myrceugenia planipes and Ugni molinae seeds with or without pericarp and for different periods of storing was studied.
A brief phytogeographic and ecological characterization of the species studies is given. Germination was done in Petri dishes at room temperature.
Myrceugenia planipes had the highest germination values whereas Ugni molinae the lowest. The remaining species presented progressive decrease in the germinating percentage with the stretching of the storage period.
Myrceugenella apiculata seeds with their fruits maintained their germinating power longer, while Amomyrtus luma presented a greater viability when stored clean, out its pericarp.
