Resolución de problemas y formulación de hipótesis al construir máquinas de Rube Goldberg

Resumen

El estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la complejidad en la resolución de problemas y la formulación de hipótesis de 91 estudiantes de ingeniería al construir una Máquina de Rube Goldberg. Fue una investigación descriptiva y de diseño transversal, en la que se realizó un análisis intraindividual de los procesos cognitivos implicados en la tarea de reventar un globo con la máquina. Para ello, se utilizó una rúbrica de codificación que valoró la demanda cognitiva de las preguntas formuladas durante la construcción. Los resultados mostraron altos niveles de complejidad en ambos procesos, lo que sugiere que la sofisticación cognitiva está relacionada con los conocimientos físicos y las habilidades prácticas necesarias en la ciencia aplicada al diseño de la máquina. Además, se observaron patrones ascendentes y descendentes en la resolución de problemas y formulación de hipótesis, revelando dinámicas diversas en el desempeño de los participantes.
