Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of a musical stimulation program based on the Orff methodology, in the cognitive development of adolescents.

The research design is quasi-experimental, specifically, pretest-posttest with an Experimental Group to which the program was implemented for four consecutive months and a Control Group to which the program was not implemented. The sample was formed by 82 students. To evaluate the development of adolescents, the tests of Analog Relations and Visual Memory of the Battery of Differential and General Aptitudes BADYG were used before and after the implementation. Data were analyzed through non-parametric statistics.

Results show that there is a statistically significant difference in the Analog Relations between pre and postest in the experimental group, which allows us to affirm that the musical stimulation program implemented allowed to strengthen the cognitive abilities of the students, and to improve the learning processes.
