Abstract

Ethnographic research in education is a design that allows us to understand the social dimension of the educational process. There are diagnoses of the state of productivity of educational research in Latin America and Chile, but specific reviews for the ethnographic area have not been detected. This leaves a theoretical and practical gap in educational research regarding how this design has been applied. Therefore, this systematization aims to diagnose the state of educational ethnography in Chile. To do this, the PRISMA 2020 guidelines were followed, searching for publications in three databases. The results indicate that the ethnographic design has adopted different modalities according to the problem it investigates and that there are themes in which ethnographic studies have concentrated, while there are others than are a niche to be investigated. The results are expected to guide research work in the area of education.
