Sympoiesis: Figurations surrounding the pecan nut in northwestern Chihuahua, Mexico

Abstract
Pecan nut production is one of the main agricultural activities in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. This highly lucrative production has been accompanied by technological advancements in irrigation systems and product processing for export. This article recounts stories featuring Mennonites, Mormons, Rarámuri, Mexicans, and wasps: inventors, producers, orchard workers, and parasitoids. These are stories derived from the production of the walnut and the invention of the machinery intended for the selection and processing of this already cultivated product. Sympoiesis, understood as a symmetrical relation between heterogeneous entities that co-participate in a network of historical figurations, leads us to analyze these encounters and moments of technological invention and parasitism between different human and non-human groups.
