Abstract

Performing the critical analysis of a journal helps to better grasp its meaning and, most certainly, to set out a potential way forward. The following paper is aimed at addressing the following questions: What is the metadiscourse of AUS Journal? Which epistemological avenues have its articles walked through? Is it possible to get a glimpse of emerging approaches within the journal? The methodology used involved the analysis of the journal’s academic discourse based on a review of its articles, since its inception ten years ago to present. Four persistent key areas were identified, establishing meaningful features within the target journal that point to a specific scientific dissemination approach. Finally, the analysis of each of these key areas also included a gender lens.
