Abstract

Gomortega keule (Mol.) Baillon, tree know as "Queule" is a Chilean endemic species, monospecific from the family Gomortegaceas, nominated as an Endangared species in Chile, and very valuable.
Being that kind of tree there is interest in its propagation and there is not written information about any type of reproduction. Therefore a germination analysis was performed in nursery conditions in Valdivia. Results show a germinative capacity of 24 % with seeds sown in Autumn (April), that had remained for at least during one winter on the forest floor suffering natural scarification stratification.
