Abstract

This article analyzes body punishment, distinguished from that of physical abuse. An analysis on the issue in different countries is made in relation to the application of ways of punishment. The investigation shows that certain societies still(yet) use corporal punishment as one more form(way) to stop troublesome behaviors. This can lead us to thinking that it is not necessary to abandon the thesis that this strategy is rejected at present by all the sectors of the society, but we must be sensitive to the idea that certain professionals and families consider it as one instrument for the alteration of unacceptable behaviors.
